The Internet of things (IoT) is the extension of Internet connectivity into physical devices and everyday objects. Embedded with electronics, Internet connectivity, and other forms of hardware (such as sensors), these devices can communicate and interact with others over the Internet, and they can be remotely monitored and controlled (Wikipedia.) So, how does this evolving paradigm affect my records management program? The consensus, among industry experts is greatly and most of us haven’t even figured out email, social media and ephemeral messages as records. Today’s presentation will explore the potential impact of IoT generated content on records management programs, security, privacy and its effect on evidentiary procedures as organizations modernize and adopt IoT interconnectivity strategies.
